MY FAVORITE OCTOBER POP-BY: MASON JAR CARAMEL APPLE KITS
I love to give pop-by gifts that I would love to receive myself.  So I came up with a caramel apple making kit. Here is what you need:   a quart-size mason jar, 2 cups of caramels (I bought mine bulk from a bin at Winco), 6 popsicle sticks,  bottle of sprinkles, ribbon, and some fabric. The total cost was $2.90 each… you could skip the sprinkles and get it down to $1.70 each, but everything is better with sprinkles. You could skip the mason jar and keep the sprinkles, then they would be $2.20 each.

Here it is… simply adorable.  I have a big soft spot for mason jars… and I guess caramels as well.  :)

Another alternative is just to buy caramel apple wraps ($2 each).

Get Your Elf Emergency List Ready!

The holiday season is the most important time of the year to stay top-of-mind with your clients.  Every November, I email out my “Elf Emergency List” with referrals to great service providers. This is a great way to cross-promote your favorite business partners while providing value to clients. 

It is by far my most opened and forwarded email of the year  You may want to print out the “Elf Emergency List” and hand out to clients with your November and December pop-bys.

This year, I am handing the “Elf Emergency List” out at my Pie Party with my Christmas card.  Why not kill three birds with one stone?  You can also put a little magnet strip on the back, so clients can keep the list and your contact info handy. My October Pop-by!!!

Here is the post I did a few years back of my caramel apple kits.  If you went to a Turning Point this year… you will have seen Brian Buffini showing it on the screen.  This was by far the most popular pop-by gift I have ever done.  It was so popular that I am doing it again this year.  I hope you enjoy it!

Well peeps… I just finished assembling my pop-bys for October… and it is a cute one.  I love to give pop-by gifts that I would love to receive myself.  So I came up with a caramel apple making kit. My November Pop-by!!!

Hi Peeps,

How are those November pop-bys going?  You still have time to blitz some out in the next 9 days.  I have a perfect and easy pop-by for you… advent calendars.   I bring one for each kid in the family every year.  Adults like the nostagia of them as well.  I got plenty of stares buying a 100 advent calendars at Trader Joes for 99 cents each.  If you don’t have a Trader Joes nearby, you should move.  :) Or I guess you could just buy them at Cost Plus World Market and most  drug stores.

My September Pop-by?

As I attend Buffini events, the most common questions I get from people is what pop-by am I doing now or what is your favorite pop-by?  Last year in September I gave out little baskets of apples… you can read that post here http://www.popbyideas.com/?m=201009.  My clients love them… but the logistics of delivering apples in the Sacramento Valley heat was tricky.

So this year, I found these boxes of apple crisp topping (some call it apple crumble) at our local grocery store Winco for $1.60.  You just mix with butter and sprinkle on top of sliced apples… my family’s favorite go-to dessert. 

I get tons of emails every year asking… how do you do the labels?  Just get a sheet of address labels and type a little saying.  You can also just slap a business card on it with an “Oh by the way” sticker.  I wouldn’t spend a lot of time on this.   Here is a picture of the one I did.  I just made a text box in word inserted a picture, typed the message, and printed on regular paper.

ANOTHER LITTLE TIP FOR YOU: Have a box that you just use for pop-bys.  I know it sounds simple, but having a consistent container and place for your pop-bys will help you win the day.   Our oldest daughter Lily started kindergarten a few weeks ago (see picture below).  Her first homework assignment was to figure out where she was going to put her homework at home.  Where is your pop-by homework?

We’ll folks, thank you again for your Sacramento area real estate referrals.   I have my iced coffee in hand and am about to load the pop-bys in my car to see my peeps.  My Michael Jackson remix tape will make the pop-by trip more enjoyable.  I have a lot of pop-bys to do and so do you.
